Paper

There are over 100 different grades of paper for recycling companies to grapple with on a daily basis.

The main types of paper in everyday use include:

1. Office white paper
2. Newspapers, magazines, telephone directories and pamphlets
3. Mixed or coloured paper
4. Computer print out paper

All paper material is collected via our own fleet of vehicles for sorting and grading at one of our Material Recycling Facilities (MRF) prior to delivery to a paper mill.

At the mill the paper is added to water and turns into pulp. The paper then goes through a number of processes including screening, cleaning and de-inking until is it suitable for papermaking. Typical end products include newsprint, cardboard packaging and tissue.

Producing recycled paper involves between 28 - 70% less energy consumption than virgin paper and uses less water. This is because most of the energy used in papermaking is the pulping needed to turn wood into paper.
