EcoBed is the result of years of research and testing various methods of manufacturing a bedding which is commercially acceptable to the equestrian and agricultural industry.
The cardboard we use for processing our product may otherwise have been disposed of within land fill sites. Therefore by using EcoBed you are aiding and helping the environment.
There are several problems when using wood shavings, and because of the decline in the industry producing these, a shortage has occurred and prices have consequently increased. Dust is also a major problem when shavings are handled. The price of straw has increased recently because of alternative uses. Respiratory problems are often caused or aggravated by the spores contained in straw.
Paper has been successfully used in the past, but tends to blow around and get soggy very quickly. Cardboard doesn't due to the pieces of cardboard being denser than paper.
Cardboard is generally easy to obtain, but strict standards have to be set on the type of raw product that is purchased. This ensures that only clean uncontaminated cardboard can be used in the processing of EcoBed.
EcoBed can be used in a similar way to wood shavings but is easier to handle when bedding down and mucking out. Unlike paper and shavings it doesn’t break down into dust with use.
Because only corrugated cardboard is used in the unique processing of this product, the absorption factor and insulation factors are excellent. Liquids run off very quickly and are absorbed slowly by the bottom layer, therefore leaving the top dry.
Recent surveys show that one of the major concerns in the equestrian world is the disposal of the used bedding. EcoBed cardboard bedding is biodegradable and can be incorporated into the ground like straw. EcoBed breaks down quicker than shavings or straw once put back into the ground.
The only bedding your horse, game birds or pets will ever need.
